Three nomadic writers from different corners of the globe, a neo-ethnic fusion band from Singapore, and a Kuchipudi dancer blend seamlessly in this hybrid performance featuring words, music, and movement. In late 2023, my family and I made the decision to move from the US to Bali to enroll our son in Green School and to follow my writing and creative career nomadically. 

After an incredible 12 years of developing ArtJamz, which evolved from a roving paint party into a retail icon, and eventually expanded into e-commerce with the introduction of ArtBoxes, I successfully sold and exited the company. During this period, ArtJamz grew into an international brand. Over that time, we fulfilled our mission to make the world a more creative place by employing hundreds of artists and enabling hundreds of thousands of customers to unleash their inner artist. For the 47th Hong Kong International Film Festival, director Soi Cheang was selected as the festival’s filmmaker-in-focus. As part of his retrospective, the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society chose to include, among his many films, one of his earliest — the 2001 cult classic, Horror Hotline….Big Head Monster. I know this film well. As a fresh-off-the-boat expat with dreams of making it as an artist in Hong Kong, I landed the supporting role of Mike, who, in the film’s penultimate scene is discovered unceremoniously and gruesomely murdered by the legendary multi-headed monster baby of Sheung Wan. On assignment for District Fray Magazine, I wrote about  sampling Silver Lyan’s latest menu with none other than the mix master genius-in-chief himself, Ryan Chetiyawardana a.k.a Mr. Lyan.

Chetiyawardana has been at the forefront of the cocktail industry for over a decade since launching White Lyan in London in 2013. Known for his experimental and avant-garde approach, he earned the title of International Bartender of the Year in 2015. At Silver Lyan and Café Riggs, he continues his commitment to innovation and sustainability while pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in a glass.
